Dance is a funny thing. It has a history and evolution all its own, even though you don’t really think of dance as having a history. Here at Extreme Dancesport, we take pride in knowing where our dances come from and about the people who were there when it all started.
Salsa is from Latin America as many of us know, but did you know that early Salsa started in Cuba when the French brought over a country dance and it combined with several African rhumbas? Ballroom encompasses some of the oldest partner dances in living history, and while contemporary Ballroom an entity of its own, it carries with it the spirit of dancing that dates back to the Victorians.
