My first exposure to dancing came from my Mom & Dad. They would go out for dinner and dancing every Saturday Night. I remember all 9 brothers and sisters would wait at the bottom of the stairs to see my mom in her dress & dad in his suit walk down like true Hollywood Stars. Before they left they would turned on the Lawrence Welk Show for us and gave us a dance or two. It was not until I was 16 years old that I took dance and music serious but with a fun approach. I was in a High School musical called “Grease”. It was then that I found out girls like guys that danced.
I remember my first exposure to West Coast Swing at a country bar and decided to take a lesson. 10 years later girls still like guys that dance and I still love dancing with girls. Today I teaching, DJ and compete on a local and national level. I have been ranked top 15 two years in a row by the National Association Swing Dance in 2008-2009.
My approach to teaching and competing in West Coast Swing is still the same as the day I started dancing in High School. You need to have “FUN”
Giving Back
My wife Kathy and I run a national swing dance event over the New Year’s holiday. This event runs for 4 days at the Burlington Marriott with an amazing cocktail party, dinner show, workshops, competitions and dancing. Part of the event is run as a charity where we give back to a local organization. www.newyearsdancineve.com
We run an organization called Boston Westie, www.bostonwestie.com Boston Westie was conceived in January of 2010. Our goal is to ensure a great night out of just dancing for everyone, and offer new people information on where to take lessons during the week or events that we are all going to as a group. We also want to give back to others less fortunate.
